To want to punch people who complain when others arent wearing a mask?

I’m so sick of annoying Karen’s complaining about others not wearing masks out in public. The masks are pointless anyway unless they are N95 or higher.

  • corona is old news, 90 percent of ppl have taken off their masks here. 50 percent of population in our capital has found to have covid antibodies in them, we are quickly approaching herd immunity.

I don't think the fact that everyone's already been all rona'd up somewhere they don't wear masks proves the point you're going for.

      • Herd immunity was always the way to go, all these lockdowns did was to completely destroy our economy. Prices are soaring, people are committing suicides due to poverty. These dirty fearmongers ruined it all.

The bottom line is that more people haven't died from shutting down than have from the rona.

          • actually the bottom line is that the economy is completely wrecked and people will spiral into poverty and continue to suffer and die.

Nah. I correctly identified the bottom line: Death count.

It's the classic "trolley problem" of philosophy: There's a train that can't be stopped and two paths it can take. One path has one person in the way and the other has five. It's not a pretty situation but you flip the switch so that it only hits one.

The vaccine is rolling out sooner than expected and soon this will all be over, with less having died than had we not taken the precautions we did. I chose and choose the path with less death.

So what probably only a few of them died population wise. So what? People die all the time of other things and I dont bat an eye. Those are acceptable losses. It's not like airborne Ebola that wants to turn you inside out. Just a fast spreading flu that doesnt effect babies or children.

"People die all the time of other things and I dont bat an eye."

And you wonder what my problem with conservatives is.

Why? Life is risky. Crying over every tragedy must be taxing. If it was especially brutal I'll take notice and hope the perpetrator dies terribly. Because at the end of the day what can the average person do? Some people are shitty, others not.

Thousands of humans die every day. You dont have the time of day to mourn them all. So what if conservatives are a tad higher up on the scale of what we mourn at?

I just love how often I waste time engaging with conservatives only to have them parrot my own points but as if they're arguing rather than agreeing.

Me: Conservatives lack empathy and think they should come first.

Conservatives: No, we just don't care as much about human suffering! And that's not true; Murrica just comes first!

              Me: ...

Same with people who don't wear the mask over their nose. The nose is where you're most likely to get/have the virus, and you breathe through it!!

Nobody wears them here, nor did any of the shops close down & We've been doing fine (mostly because no one interacts with each here even before covid).

I got bitched out by one because I forgot my mask one time. I thought maybe she was checking me out at first because I saw her continously staring at me as I walked through the store. Then she actually walked by me and told me to back away from her. I didnt realize I had forgotten my mask at the time and was wondering wtf is her problem. I was in another line and she walked into her line and said "WILL YOU PLZ BACK AWAY FROM ME!?". She had the short hair and everything. Was rude.

These people are brainwashed. Ive had people scream at me to wear a mask riding my bike on the other side of the street. I don't even believe it's because they're scared, cause nobodys dumb enough to think you can catch any kind of illness from a bicyclist coming within 15 feet of you. It's almost a programmed reaction at this point.

The entire point of this whole thing is control. At the beginning I didnt really get why people were making a big deal about wearing masks. The longer this goes on, the more I see it as a symbol of "being a good person" (Read: complying with rules that make no sense) The masks literally say on the box that they don't work.

If it wasn't for the masks we wouldn't even remember we were in a "pandemic." But the narrative is that if you see somebody not complying you should shame them and pick fights with them.

Its dumb to wear masks outside. But im not going to yell that at random strangers because its none of my buisiness what they do. People are just finding an excuse to be an asshole and feel self-righteous about it.

Right on that it's about being a 'good person'

It's a whole competition of who is the most self satisfied and it's hilarious. We get to see people wearing the face diapers in cars, in parks, and acting scared of each other whilst making sure everyone knows how good they are LMAO

Its a whole circlejerk for sure. Saying nothing about if masks do anything or not, what's happening is "Follow government instruction" is being wrapped up as "Show you're a good person" and that's a very dangerous and unsettling parallell to make. Thats the kind of stuff that got China where they are right now.

And people get to go along with it because its an easy way to do absolutely nothing and then pat yourself on the back for being a hero who's saving lives. Anyone Ive talked to who's the kind of person who'd yell at you for not wearing a mask is probably the same person who sits around writing veiled masturbatory posts about themselves on social media.

Yep, I've noticed a lot of it is more about virtue signaling and a sense of grandiosity than anything with most people.

Haha, people taking selfie pictures in their car wearing a mask. They're not doing it to save lives, they're doing it because its fashionable. Somebody dies every 12 seconds, you think these people ever gave a shit about random dead strangers before the news told them it was the hip thing to do?

Is this mask thing still going on?!

Man, I'm so sheltered in rural QLD. It's been almost a year since anyone around here had covid. We've kind of all forgotten about it.

    Actually, they're not pointless.

Reason 1: Though some virus particles are aerosolised, most travel on water droplets. The masks catch the water droplets. And even if they didn't, transmission is via nose and mouth, and when a mask is covering your nose and mouth, you're not likely to touch them with contaminated hands.

Reason 2: The more of the virus that's in your system, the harder it is to fight off and the more seriously you'l get ill. If I get coronavirus despite wearing a mask, I won't get as sick as I would have done without the mask, unless I do something stupid like ride the subway then stick my unwashed fingers up my nose.

Evidence 3: Southeast Asian countries where people wore masks before coronavirus have generally had fewer fatalities.

Evidence 4: I work (masked) with over 100 adolescents all wearing masks in a school where social distancing is impossible, and I ride public transport to work every day in the city centre at rush hour, in the biggest city in the country, after the capital. I haven't had coronavirus, the vast majority of my masked colleagues haven't, and the school hasn't been forced to close this academic year. And yet, this country has been quite badly hit on the whole.

Yeah relatable, but are you achieving anything by doing this? No. However yes I agree with you being sick of those Karens telling you what to do, yes they must be called out for their tomfoolery.

Karen’s aren’t the ones complaining that others don’t wear, they are the ones not wearing them and complaining that they have to.

I just perfer to be the guy who has to be told to put on a mask before putting on the mask in my pocket. I dont want people to get to used to this. Because I want to go back to pre covid sooner than later and we just will have to live with another thing that wants to kill us... join the club covid.

You can feel however you want to feel, but don't punch anyone, because that would be jacked up, and it could get you arrested, or it's possible that the person you punch will really kick your ass.
