Of course depression is real. Else it wouldnt be diagnosed by doctors. I've grown up with my mother having to deal with depression and trust me it is real, it is horrible and extremely difficult. There have been times i have felt truly depressed, its not easy to get out of.
Aww really? I appear to the be the sarcastic, depressed one in my family too.
Yesterday, my dad called me to read something in the news that he thought I'd "better take a look at." It was about how "less sleep has been linked to depression amongst teens." LOL I didn't know whether to laugh or laugh. So I laughed and demolished the pathetic article (sleep problems tend to be a symptom of depression, there is no indication of causality etc etc.) I almost felt exposed though, because I never talk about things like this and in this case, I had to talk about it as though I am an observer rather than a sufferer. It made me feel paranoid that he could see right through me. I hate stuff like that.
By the way - you never know how the other members of your famille may be feeling.
I'm pretty sure that my dad is a bit depressed (he's an open book to me.) As much as I hate to admit it (he acts so silly and his views and everything are just...*sigh* and he treats me like an idiot) I have that in common with him.
