To have an object for calming down anxiety

Whenever I feel like my anxiety or any overwhelming emotion is taking over me, I grab my spiritual bag of rocks. No, they're not ordinary rocks. They're more like amethyst, red jasper, and quartz's. It's amazing how quickly they work. It only takes about 5-10 minutes to calm my anxiety waves.

Anybody else uses an object to calm overwhelming emotions?

My cat is a very calming presence in my life. When he was little he was really into playing fetch, and just randomly bringing me things, because he can. It was not uncommon for me to come home, and then see him descending the stairs with either my Rosary beads, or my stash of weed. What is truly miraculous is that he never spilled any of my herb.

My Siamese cat mostly just likes to chill these days, but he's still the best!

He's not an object of course, he is a force of nature.

If it works, it works. I don’t personally suffer from anxiety so I can’t say I’ve felt the same but carry on.

Female friend of mine has a Warmie, which is a stuffed animal that warms up and she hugs or hold when anxious or stressed. I think we all have something we use or even look at to help with anxiety or stress. Or things we keep to ease our minds and prevent anxiety, just knowing it's still there.

I was on a donation and getting rid of things kick (as I usually am), and put something into the box that was my ex-wife's from when we first met. Nothing big, and, it wasn't even complete, but it reminded me of a certain time in my life. I dropped the box off at the sally army bin close to my house, then came home. Thought about what was in the box, and was fine with everything I donated. Other than that one thing. I ended up going back out and getting it from the box, hoping it was still there b/c people are vultures and will grab anything by those bins. Took it home and had such a feeling of calm, of..It's still here. Made me feel good.

Without knowing it you are practicing CBT. Those rocks act as a cognitive interruption which is known to decrease anxiety.

When your mind focuses on those rocks it has no time to think about obscure emotional thoughts.

I say if it works, keep at it.

Try getting a tennis ball and when anxiety hits just start squeezing the tennis ball or 2 (1 in each hand). I would suggest doing what i do, but vodka and others is not the answers.

Vodka is an answer but it doesn't work long term. It gets expensive and you get damn sick if you drink the way I do.
