I am sick of people who refuse to acknowledge them and all this anti-psychiatry movement bullshit. Mental illnesses are just like physical illnesses in the way that they exist and need treatment. Although people complain the drugs or therapy they get don't work, I'd say it's similar to the way old treatments for physical problems didn't work.
We still don't fully understand the brain, much less every individual's. Of course some drugs are not going to work properly and of course for some they will respond badly to therapy. It's like back when the black death was spreading people used home remedies which would often not work because they had no idea about the disease. Similarly, we still can't fully comprehend the brain so our treatments cannot be effective for everyone. That's just how it will be until more understanding is gained.
