What kind of things do you talk about usually? Whatever subjects you talk about, just read up on them or watch videos about them. It's pretty easy. There are like 5 mins Youtube videos dense with information.

Just sound smart and be confident. Most of the time either the person won't know as much as you but will believe you because you sound like you know what you are talking about.

Know some small details and facts about a broad subject. You can interject these small facts to fill in the BS.

I know a nurse educator who makes a living 'acting' like she knows what shes talking about. She actually made people believe Propofol [a medication that puts people to sleep] breaks down to a Barbiturate. This struck me as odd so I looked them up 'chemically'. Fact is its impossible because the only element they have in common is one molecule of oxygen, otherwise they are 99.9% chemically different. Lead would sooner change to Gold.

Hit them with random facts about sea lions.
