On the one hand, I don't think a really good friendship would be damaged by having sex. Especially if everyone is into it and no-one feels pressured and everyone agrees that it doesn't mean anything, I don't see what could go wrong. On the other hand, obviously there's a lot to lose.
You can judge the risk better than anyone else since you know them as people.
