I think there are already enough people out there who spend way too much of their life behind a screen. Soon it's going to be even more realistic and intense?
Plant them on shelves in a huge warehouse with their VR and hook them up to feeding and excrement tubes.

Nah, there are a lot of people who legitimately don't like video games or anything of the sort. They would stick with the Augmented Reality thing, if that. No need to worry about humanity.
