  • Sadly people tend to think that celebrities serve some sort of importance in our individual lives. They tend to think that what celebrities do is important for the world to know. Parents expect celebrities to raise their kids instead of raising their own kids and being the role models that they child needs, and rock bands that care more about their money and cars are "saving kid's lives" and being their "heroes" instead of parents, siblings, friends and people who truly care about them. People like Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton are more highly praised than doctors and fire fighters. What did these two women do that makes them so valuable to the world? They created a sex tape. While the doctor and fire fighter only saved the life of a child. No biggy!

If someone were to see me walking down the street they might say hello; they might go about their business. If someone were to see Rihanna walking down the street (and God forbid a fangirl) there would be lots of screaming, begging for autographs a couple of paparazzi here in and there. Why is that? What makes Rihanna any more human than you and me? Why is it that when Kim Kardashian's baby was born this hit world news. Babies are born everyday. They cry, poop, drool. I don't see anything special about this baby from this next.

Thing is, this is a screwed up world we live in. Where someone can make a sex video and be worshipped. Where a cancer patient gets death wishes because she didn't get Over excited when a popular rock band played at her sixteenth birthday party (this really happened).

But I think we need to ask ourselves this: why do we care so much about what celebrities do? I mean, after all, they are just people. Cut them they'll bleed. Tell a joke, they'll laugh. They eat, sleep, breathe, drink just like you and me. And of course, they do stupid things like you and me to. Some are good people others are bad. Most of them are just out there trying to make money, but aren't we all? And they have they're personal lives as well as the professional (public) lives.

My answer to your question is, yes, she's normal. She is human. If twerking brings her money than she will twerk. If bringing attention to herself brings her money then she will do it. If working customer service brings me money then I am willing to go through the stress. Like most people, she will do just about anything as long as it means she will get paid. That is her job. Her profession. But at the end of the day, she is still a person doing whatever it takes to put bread on the table (even if it's more bread than what the average person brings home). She has her family, her friends, and like any other person, she's just doing her job.

    • I agree.

Teenagers are highly influential and they are more influenced by their peer groups and their idols than by their parents. It's a fact and I think that's why parents sometimes expect celebrities to behave properly, forgetting that those people are just human after all. However we cannot underestimate the influence that those people have on teens. I remember when I was 13 - 15 I was crazy about Britney Spears and wanted to stay a virgin till marriage just like her.
