Hmm, I'm an AA lady, and sometimes people assume I'm this rap connoisseur, lol. It's odd because I never really favored it too much nor was I raised with it.
Rarely do I listen to Rap, but it'd be narrow to say that there aren't some great songs in the genre. Frankly, I'd listen to anything that is aurally pleasing and lyrically sound (doesn't deal with mostly materialism and hedonism). Thanks to my family's tastes, I was raised with Jazz, Fusion, Bebop, RnB- the works- because that's where I was trained musically. Classical theory is one thing to study; it's very invigorating! Jazz theory, however, is another friggin world.
