I'm not sure how much thinking is normal, but imo there could be such a thing as too much. If your mind's always busy thinking, does it allow you to take in new information, new impressions and more importantly are you able to really live in the moment and enjoy it?
I have quite an active mind, too, but sometimes I just zone out for a bit. Idk if that's normal lol. If you're unable to switch off, have you thought of doing meditation or relaxation exercises, just 5-10 mins a day, just to try to clear your head a bit. You might find that it's good to take a break, to just breathe and be.
Trust me I've tried meditation, self hypnotism and anything else I could think of. When I sit in an empty house with no noise and I try to clear my mind... Then I start thinking about 'How does one clear the mind' I've never been able to just stop thinking so I honestly don't know how to do so. It's gotten to the point where I have full on conversations with myself in my head. And when I'm home alone I speak my mind and will just talk and talk and talk, sometimes I answer myself or cut myself off. I'm able to think about two things at the same time. I can even sing and talk in my head at the same time. It's like a thought within a thought. It's gotten to the point where I'm thinking about just going and seeing a psychiatrist about it. Give me something to help me stop thinking or at least tell me why I think so much.
