I think you're using boxed thinking on this. Say a person wishes to travel ftom new york to Paris to see the louvre but could never afford the $3000 plane ticket and several hundred dollars for accommodations. For a mere $14.95 they can visit through the meta.
Virtual travel will never completely replace actual travel but it does give an avenue for people to have realistic experiences. It's like amazon which made billions of dollars but people still buy mostly from brick and mortars.

Alot of people are talking about it but it sounds really stupid. Instead of virtually traveling why wouldnt you just actually travel? It sounds silly
