They had no sympathy

So I told my parents that my boyfriend and I broke up and then I moved out and now homeless.. they did not responded with "I'm sorry to hear that" or any sympathy at all..
Is this normal??

Depends on your age. My parents wouldnt actually care if I was homeless if I was 30. They love me but they dont take free loaders.

They are probably sick of carrying you and being used by you.

How did they feel about your boyfriend? I’ve had friends that have broken up with and moved away from abusive, manipulative POS boyfriends and sympathy was the last thing on my mind.

    • They never said anything to me about him at all.. and besides they only saw what he wanted them to see...

You’d be surprised. People who’ve been around the block can sometimes pick up on things. Maybe not enough to be confident enough to say something, but to feel uneasy.

Without knowing your personal relationship to your parents its hard to adjudicate the normality of this

I'm sorry to hear about that. Is there any specific reason why they won't allow you are stay at their place til you can find s place of your own?

Shes 28. Kicked out because of a breakup with no fallback plan nor job. Not really unexpected.

What do you expect them to do? Buy you an apartment, lots of flowers and "Get well soon" banners? Breakups happen. You move on. Life goes on.

It sucks that you had to breakup with someone and leave a home, but I doubt you are homeless as in living in an alleyway... You're probably homeless as in crashing at a friend's place, until you get a place of your own.

Every 28 year old should be able to deal with this without much difficulty.

Dude, really? They're her mum and dad, it's really strange that they weren't sympathetic. Yeah breakups happen but it's also normal for people to show you some sympathy when they do, especially your own parents. I've been kinder to complete strangers who were going through a hard time. And there's a difference between giving her a shoulder to cry on and buying her an apartment.

    • If I didnt have a friend I could crash at I would have stayed in my car (and I did for a couple nights) so yea pretty much homeless

I like to imagine this is how you react when you step on someone's foot or accidentally spill your drink on them at a party. Get over it snowflake! And then you don't understand why you keep going home alone.

Stop taking things personal, people in general care only about themselves.

It depends. How many times in the past have you been in the same position?

    • None like this.. this was my first supposedly "serious" relationship and the first time I've really left my family to try and start a life for myself.. it was my first ever attempt to be an adult (yes I know how fkn stupid that sounds but I have been sheltered my whole life.. i left to change that and had backfired)

Just so you know I am so ashamed of myself and the situation I am in.. i wished i had done s ill nothing sooner so i didnt have to deal with this bs..

If my kid didn't learn from previous mistakes, it would be normal for them to try on your own. FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS.
