They think that their kids got in the way of their dreams. They don't treat their kids bad but this is what they told me. Is it normal?
Though horrible, I believe it's normal. Society not only cashes in on sex, but on children as well, making them an endless money pit for you until their old enough to take care of themselves, and sometimes not even that if they have physical or mental disabilities.
So yeah, not only is your money tied down, but your time and energy as well, because your whole life is now to keep them safe, feed, and comfortable so they can become well adjusted adults or at least survive until they can legally take care of themselves. However, it's not the child's fault, because it was the parents' decision to keep/and or make them by having consensual unprotected sex in the first place.
You're wrong on this one. You must not know enough middle-aged people: they use their kids as an excuse for darn near everything. Why they're fat, why they haven't tried looking for a better job, why they stay home all weekend, etc.
It's a popular excuse to stay stagnant because at least you see your kids growing and that's enough to satisfy you while you undergo a safe and boring life.
Kids take time and energy and money much not as much as folks think. They are the scapegoat for middle-agers who gave up pursuing their dream and ambitions.
Those people hide their cowardice under 'selflessness'.
