We used to sail from St. Thomas to Christiansted, St Croix for a fantastic brunch at a place on the waterfront, once a month (sometimes twice if things were slow). Eggs Benedict, Mimosas with fresh squeezed OJ and hot, fresh baked croissants made the 72 mile round trip sail well worth the trouble. Too bad those days are long gone.
But in general, I have to agree, brunch does seem a rather pompous term for a rather decadent meal.
The word "Brunch" totally sucks
