The Tweaker, The Theif and The Slob. Who would you rather live with?

  • I have almost exactly the same answer, but I have a few more reasons and wonder if you'd agree with them.

    • The thief is the only option who isn't dangerous. The tweaker brings potentially dangerous people into your house, risks getting you both arrested for the meth in your home, and regularly prevents you from sleeping. Even if he just regularly kept you awake, that's unhealthy and dangerous enough on its own. The slob's hoarding can easily cause injury, disease, and damage to the home, and that's not to mention his anger.

    • The tweaker is likely to become a thief, and the slob might as well be already. The tweaker will probably run out of money for drugs and get desperate, and as his roommate, you're the easiest person to steal from. The slob will destroy your property both by hoarding and in fits of rage.

    • The thief is the most predictable. You know what the deal is, and you can figure out how to prevent the worst bits. The tweaker and the slob would keep me constantly on edge and afraid. Losing things is much easier than losing control.

My second choice, actually, would be the tweaker. That might seem like an odd thing to say, but I'd actually rather deal with being kept up and having strangers in the house than worry about the slob's fits of anger. I can lock myself in my room with a crowbar if there are other people around, but I can't live with somebody I'm afraid of. Also, since I use a wheelchair, living with a hoarder would trap me in my own home, and that's terrifying.

I do like that the slob has a cat, though. Anyway, are we allowed to seduce the thief? Maybe the tweaker, too?

    • We have the same order and for much the same reason, although with one difference (which I'll get to). The slob moved from my potential choice to the bottom of the list because he's doing damage all the time whereas the tweaker (I have no idea what this term means so I may be missing out on context) brings only the threat of damage. And, to be honest, what little I know of drug dealers, they're just normal people. Apart from one who committed a pretty gruesome murder which everybody knows about but nobody will publicly admit because it was the murder of someone who did exactly that.

The reason I hinted at early on in this is that people who take a lot of drugs can be kind of funny when they're altered.

      • A tweaker is a drug addict, but the term only applies to certain drugs. Meth is a common drug to use it for, as is crack, but I've also heard it applied to amphetamines and PCP.

You're right that drug dealers are pretty normal, and it was silly of me to allow my judgement to be clouded by a stigma that I know is inaccurate, especially as I've known people who deal. I think here, it might kind of depend on the drug, as some have connections to organised crime, but meth is made, not imported. Still, I'm unsure as to how safe it would be. People do get hurt in drug deals, but it depends a lot on the circumstances. I would still have a problem with having someone I don't really know in my bathroom at unpredictable times, and I stand by what I said about potential theft, although "likely" may be too strong a word. If it were something less addictive, I wouldn't be so concerned, but meth is kind of serious business.

I failed to consider that I'd almost certainly end up on meth if a meth dealer were in my house regularly. Hmm.

        • Weed dealers are normal people but almost all the people on meth Ive been around are anything but normal. Meth dealers are almost always on meth.
