The rich should be forced to share their stuff with the poor?

My friend says that since they were born into a life they don't deserve and make a lot of money, they should be obligated to share their wealth and give up parts of their land and money to the poor. I don't care about rich people but the idea of it creeps me out for some reason. Is his crazy idea bad or good? Should they be obligated to give?

People remember the 50s as a golden age.
    Most workers were union.
    1 income familys.
They lived better than we do now, on
    One pay check.
    The universities were affordable.
    Health care was non profit.
    The rich,
    Payed 70% tax.
    They were still rich.
    Today, it's greed.
I don't say give it to the poor.
But do create a society were an able bodied person can find a living wage job.
If you're still standing on the sidewalk holding a cardboard sign.
    That's up to you.
Greed rules, it's likely to be our downfall.

The truth is that the rich share with the poor all the time. It is the rich, people with some capital, who create jobs and hence income streams for people who need jobs. The poor do not create jobs.

Handouts do not raise anybody's standard of life....but jobs do.

The tired old job creator bit.
1 Usually the rich aren't the ones taking risks to start business.
2 We've been cutting their taxes every few years since the 60s.
How's that whole trickle down theory working for you?
3 Mitt Romney is one of the Asses that made millions showing U.S. company C.E.O.s had they could make more $ by moving their factories to CHINA.
      That's creating jobs.
4 Some blame immigrants for stealing jobs here.
Mexicans didn't move jobs to China.
      Greedy rich white men did.

The opportunity of a job, or a handout. Which produces the improved quality of life. The handout? That is the attitude that creates poverty.

      • 1. The people who start up businesses are usually middle class who borrow their money from the rich, who assume the risk.
        2. Trickle down ecoconomics has shown to be the best long term economic model in the history of society. Even its staunchest critics in the 80s have sometimes digressed to this.

        3. No argument there

4.not many people blame immigrants for stealing jobs. People are angrier by the fact that undocumented workers are allowed to come here and get a job, a drivers license, food stamps and welfare without ever having to pay a dime in taxes.

Fun fact: the us spends a total 1.03 trillion on public assistance in any given year. Thats about $3600 per person living in the us. Most lower middle class don't pay $3600 per year in taxes. Where do you think this money comes from? The hard working rich, or the lazy, whining, entitled poor? Look the numbers up if you dont believe me.

Creating jobs = paying people less than the value of what they produce/create. If anything, that's cheating people out of money. Pretty far from "sharing".

That sounds silly there will be haves and have nots even if a utopia was achieved their will still be some kind of inequality.

Communism sounds nice but it's impossible to make a reality any country that has tried it decayed very fast.

That's not to say capitalism is perfect but it's a inch better then what communism brings.

As for socialism there are some good prospects to it but there are a lot of negatives.

But to forcibly steal from people won't make things better if anything it could make things a lot worse.

Now corporatism is something that is a problem that needs to be dealt with because it is very parasitic.

People often have this idea till they figure it out, or they become extremists while people get used to his talking. Be wary of what he is doing, it could be harmless, or very dangerous.

He believes that the US government can be reformatted to some sort of Utopia and that no one can be poor. He also seems to think that since jobs are becoming scarce and since there are more abandoned houses than there are homelessness, the government should take care of people and people shouldn't have to work if they don't want to. The whole thing just creeps me out. I don't think anyone is entitled to free shit.

Unfortunately, if all money was equalled between everyone (say a million per person) people would still be buying shit. So if you begin buying iPhones and big houses then companies like Apple and real estate agents would gain money as you lose it.
Our economy is good for some but it'll always have poor people due to a monetary system.

Absolutely not. I hate that idea. I have a socialist friend that always tells me stuff like this because he's poor. Too bad. How about getting a job? The idea of others being obligated to give you because they are more successful than you is disgusting and egocentric to me. And that's coming from a very generous person.

The rich are obligated to be rich. It is their natural right as the owner of that wealth to OWN it. We all must pay a portion of our income as taxes, but why they should pay a bigger portion over anyone else, much less give it all away, irks me.

I dream of a utopia free from the idea of wealth disparity and work as a whole, yet it still does not change what is wrong about this.
It is only okay if it is done with the well-wished consent of the wealthy, and preferably towards an institution we all benefit from, not just the poorest of the poor.

i happen to just fucking love rich people, while not rich myself , i have no wants and i observe two hard fast rules. 1. a poor person has not ever been in a financial position to help anyone , 2, Only the rich will be in a position to show charity to one's fellow man. what the poor dont like is its the rich that get to choose who to help. My two older daughters will attend university due to rich people grating them dollars , enough to cover all expenses. The rich decided who they felt deserved it not the poor. But notice this , they didnt give of it freely based on need but rather who was the most deserving.

Unfortunately, lots of people are greedy MFs and won’t share. They will find a way to get out of sharing.

  • megadriver

Cause the rich don't share enough? They start businesses, they offer employment. They pay taxes. They pay for research.

I got my own business and dream to build on that and be properly rich too. And if anyone thinks I'm gonna give them one of my 2 Mercedes cars, or my classic BMW, or any of my hard-earned money (now, or later when I have more money and more cars), just cause they aren't as well off, they can go screw themselves and then jump off a cliff!

The worst thing on the planet is a poor idiot, usually unemployed, living on welfare, cursing the rich and blaming them for his own ineptness!
    Communism never works!

I'm not a troll. My friend argued his point seriously and got upset when other people argued against it. His behavior makes me think he's nuts and I want to see if anyone can "shed some light on this" and give me an opinion on whether or not he's wrong. I'm leaning toward him being wrong, but if someone can tell me if he's right I'm willing to hear it.

      :)
He also thinks that people shouldn't have to work if they don't want to. If the government ever did give land for free like that and I didn't have to work, I'd pull what they call a "full blown Hispanic" in my town: Join in on the mooch parade(I'm Hispanic, btw). Why should I have to bust my ass lifting heavy shit for 8 hours at Target trying to pay my bills when the government will pay it no strings attached? XD

it works in societies that do not use money. In a modern digital world it would work this way the credits you earn at work expire or evaporate at midnight each and every night. so you use them or give them away . Its a new idea . of course you cant ever save money for a house or car and it drives humankind back into the stone age but so does communism and socialism , in the end everyone is penniless and society collapses into ruin. the idea is parasitic in witch the world parasites take untill no one has anything left to take at all.
