Well there could be many reasons for that
He is meant to be interesting, different, famous and we often get fascinated by characters who, if we would meet em in real life, we would probably avoid or they’d hurt us.
It’s totally normal that you think that way about a person that is fictional or even an existing person you just don’t know personally. If you do, well that would be an entirely different story. Like the Manson family or that woman that got very intimate with bundy in prison

Another theory I have is the emotional release of our own misery we see in such a character. Or well the wish deep inside for madness. Or anger in this case at society
