This is only weird if he keeps insisting on doing something you don't want, in which case he's just plain disrespectful to not respect your privacy. He has a fairly harmless fetish but he shouldn't be imposing it on you. These rooms have doors for a reason: close it!
I'm Australian and one of my pet hates is the way most Americans can't call toilets/lavatories/loos/dunnies by their proper names.
What's this cutesy coy "bathroom" and "restroom" rubbish about? I don't have a bath or take a rest in there, I shit and piss.
And by the way, some public toilets here are unisex and some are not. If the original poster is talking about the ones in private homes, aren't they unisex in America too?
