The f-word is acceptable but the c-word isn't?

  • So how and why do you think this particular bit of women's anatomy became an offensive name calling word?

See Meow's post below and my response ... words don't just happen accidentally, they have a history ...... or in this case maybe a herstory?

    • I wouldnt know the history. But I dont think it matters what the word once ment it matters what it means now.
There are lots of words that used to mean one thing but now mean another ...such as swag...and gay.
What the word means amd the feelings associated with it when it is used is what matters right now.
Who knows maybe in another few 100 Years or so it might not mean the same thing at all.

      • Yeah I sort of agree with you, I was just adding a bit of history to the discussion.

Please explain about the word "swag" - in Australia it still means a canvas covered bedroll - hence the "swaggie" in Waltzing Matilda.

Does the word have another meaning elsewhere?

          • Thank you for the clarification: it must be a US thing? I've never heard of it in Australia but then maybe I should check with the grandkids be 100% sure of that.

And I'll continue to call my battered and much loved canvas bedroll a swag.
