Convicted killers through a fair trial should be killed period.

Just put them in jail for life instead

Read the book Actual Innocence. I supported the death penalty but it turned my way of thinking around.
I worked as a cop and in the prison system so I KNOW scum. It's cheaper on us to give them life (taxes) than giving a death sentence (appeals/etc). Also, guilt can be a tricky thing...it's not always black and white. Another thing to consider is that a lot of inmates actually prefer death because they don't have to face punishment and would rather "go to sleep" than rot behind bars for decades.

Your totally right. As a mother, I would want pedophiles, child murders in deathrow. No if buts or ands.

I see it being more as a punishment if they were to rot in prison for the rest of their life, it's more justice served because they're having to live their life in a cell, would be extremely unpleasant for most people because you're confined to 4 walls, a toilet and a bed, porridge or whatever awful meals they make in prison, whereas the death penalty is almost an escape.

Sure they're going to die, but assuming nothing comes after death, then they won't be suffering anymore. And I never thought the death penalty was a good example. "You committed awful crimes and killed a lot people, so now we're going to kill you, what a good example that would set for society." It makes us as bad as them because murder is always wrong, you're taking someones life, not even the law should do that, that's why there are cells and if it makes you feel any better living in a cell for the rest of your life is a lot harder.

seriously you think it's wright?? its barbaric, and terrible. sure there are some nasty peices of work out there but
no one has the wright to take a life, not even state. (un less it's to save many others or person in question has commited genocide: yea hitler got what he deserved)

The only problem with the death penalty is that those sentenced to death usually die of old age before they're executed!

I agree that it should take place everywhere. It would save a lot of trouble sometimes. It's understandable to feel bad for it. Don't worry, you're fine.

A society of people has the right to protect itself from people who kill and derive pleasure from torture. If a person threatens your life with a gun do you fight them with a knife? If you do decide to fight them with a knife they will most likely maim or kill you. I believe every person has the right to defend themselves. When a person presents a threat to me or my family and it is life threatening. They will deal with the worst I have to give. Same with society. We need to stop rolling over for these people. They have to be stopped or they will repeat over and over. Just my opinion.

in my country people commit crimes just so they can go to jail and a meal and a roof over their heads and that takes a lot of money from us the people, I say Kill them All!!!!!

I don't think the death penalty should even exist, I know why you think like this, there are some people who murder and I've wanted them to die too but you need to think carefully. Some of these people have had a pretty messed up childhood, they could have been beaten everyday for all you know, their parents could have murdered someone in front of their very eyes. In a way, sometimes it's not just because they are horrible people that they do this.

If you give them the death penalty how are you any better than they are if they are a murderer too? They deserve to be punished for what they did, agreed but death is so final and as much as they were a terrible person they were someones daughter, son, brother, sister too. I agree with devilla, what if they didn't do anything wrong in the first place?

I live in South Africa and I WISH we had the death penalty. We have one of the highest crime rates and a corrupt legal system to boot. Our president was even accused of rape. COMPLETELY TRUE, you can google it. Some people just don't deserve to live.

The only thing I hate about the death penalty-They don't suffer as their victims did AND innocent people were killed that way.

The chances of getting it wrong are slimmer than the amount of times we can get it right. The money we save on prison can be used to compensate the one's for the occasional mistake.
