I'd tell the truth. Sugar coating it or lying is just dumb.

Answer honestly, the answer is most likely no anyway.

    Answer:
Big or small is in the eyes of the looker and what they have to compare or what they prefer.
I personally like your butt unwrapped so what ever you're wearing is just covering up and teasing me.

There was a time not all that long ago when the correct (as in the most advantageous, if not necessarily honest) answer to that question was always, "No, honey, that outfit does not make your butt look big."

But now curvy butts have become fashionable again (a trend I wholeheartedly approve of), and so knowing what's best to say is much more complicated.

I'm a great believer in honesty, but I also know that guys need to choose their words very carefully when expressing an opinion about a woman's appearance. If you know a woman detests the whole Kardashian-inspired, bubble-butt thing, and it seems to you that her outfit does indeed emphasise the curves she has back there, then you should tell her that. But if you happen to like that look and you think the outfit makes her look hot, then you should definitely lead with that.

"Why do you want to know?" is the correct answer.

Until you know why she is asking and what her preference is... you cannot possibly know the best answer to her question.

Some ladies think a big butt is an asset (at least in some situations), others do not.

-It aint the pants, it's your ass.

-On you? Yes. They looked good on your sister.

You’re always safer with “no” even if it’s a lie. Been there.

I just deflect to a positive. That ends it usually better than whatever lie I was going to say.

Her: Does this make my butt look big?

Me: Well it does thin out your entire frame.

I have learned over time to be diplomatic on this question. Saying that you should have a wide load sign on your arse doesnt go down to well. Now from watching GOK QWAN I simply say that the item of clothing doesnt flatter her figure due to the colour or pattern etc. The truth with compassion

It’s infamous for being bad, the singers are the cast of an old TV show and the song is generally considered to be the end of it being cool.
