  • Gay marriage is harmful to others. It harms the two participants, those who came to the wedding, and the person who oversaw the wedding.

    • Gay people getting married doesn't invalidate anyone else's marriage

Homosexuality also reduces competition for mates

I believe people should be able to have some sense of sovereignty over their lives

Thinking ill of someone because you believe they'll be punished is a presupposition leading to dogma, the true work of the devil

Is it not so that no one could understand god, see him or hear him? And has his societal implications not changed drastically over the centuries? Shouldn't he who has not sinned cast the first stone? Are people not made in his image?

      • While that is correct, it is completely unimportant.
        That is also completely unimportant.
There's this thing called "free will," and people use it all the time.
"Thinking ill" is an excessively harsh phrase.
That does not prevent God's word from being important. As Revelation says, things have changed and will continue to change for the worse. The context of Bible verses can be quite important; that verse is referring to the death penalty for adultery, and Jesus is saying that none of the people there have done little enough sin to be able to punish a person of meager sin. I don't agree with murdering homosexuals, so the verse does not relate. People are made in God's image, but, unlike God, people are slaves to sin.

        • I think publicly/vocally criticizing someone is still casting a stone? You know in my mind I always imagine a crowd full of people dropping their rocks and accept whoever it was they were about to stone

          • I don't think we can extrapolate it to mean that, though. The Bible also says, "Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thy heart, but reprove him openly, lest thou incur sin through him." -Leviticus 19:17. To "rebuke openly" can be public/vocal criticism. Also, I don't think the way you're picturing it's correct, either. It's not them suddenly having sympathy for the woman; rather, it's guilt for their own actions, and how they are close enough to adultery that to kill someone for it would be hypocritical.

            • Well I personally think it's hypocritical to condemn someone for a sin when the bible says everyone sins, god can't even be in the same presence as sin which is why people die and remove their earthly, sinful shells to go to heaven

Bible also says to love thy neighbor, also talks about pride

Wouldn't it also be considered playing god to punish people like that? Like that's supposed to be his job, not yours

    • Um no. The only thing that’s harmful are your bigoted opinions.

    • It really doesn't. That's...pathetic, even for you.

"Cos the Bible" is not a valid point to people who do not believe in the Bible.

Aren't you claiming to be a constitutionalist? What about separation of church and state?

      • Arguing that one should be able to marry someone of the same gender also harms others by normalizing sin.

        • What part of "cos the bible" is irrelevant are you not able to understand?

You don't get to force your belief system on people while simultaneously whining that other religions are trying to force them on you. Hence, bigot.

        • Haha absolutely agree with Charli. The bible and sin are not relevant or valid points to non believers.
