As a "notoriously homophobic Christian," I'd prefer if you acted more as an asexual. The purpose is not to cause strife; rather, it's to prevent strife. Your actions will matter when the time of judgement comes.
So in other words you expect anyone who does not comply with your moral code and ideology to be celibate. Can you not see how ridiculous that is? Who the hell are you to control the consensual sex lives of grown adults? Didn’t Jesus say not to judge? Then how is it so many Christians take it upon themselves to judge others? Also about this “time of judgement”, firstly it only matters to you because you believe such a bunch of crap with zero evidence except some book written not by “god” but by flawed ancient humans over 2000 years ago. Newsflash - times have changed. Women are no longer chattel and you’re allowed to eat shellfish so maybe quit cherry-picking to validate your distorted and superstitious belief system. Second if there is going to be any judgment it’s going to on the insecure hypocritical people who go around thinking it’s up to them to judge and control other people and thereby causing much suffering and harm. God is just going to stop you all at the gates and declare “ I told you all not to fucking judge, you FAILED, bye” Why is it so many of your priests and pastors turn out to be such perverts? The Roman Catholic Church has been exposed as nothing more than a pedophile cult. If anyone needs to change it’s Christians.
I prefer it, not expect it. I know many people because this world is a world filled with sin. I have no control of the lives of other adults; that's what governments are for. Technically, Jesus said this:
"[1] Judge not, that you may not be judged, [2] For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again. [3] And why seest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye; and seest not the beam that is in thy own eye? [4] Or how sayest thou to thy brother: Let me cast the mote out of thy eye; and behold a beam is in thy own eye? [5] Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam in thy own eye, and then shalt thou see to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." - Matthew 7:1-5
Confession and repentence are our ways of "cast[ing] out first the beam in [our] own eye[s]." Your beliefs have no evidence, either. Prove your beliefs to be true; you can't. No beliefs can be proven true until the day of judgement. The Bible never claims women to be "chattel", in fact, Paul says to treat them with respect, so your is nonsense. Jesus himself said that we are allowed to eat shellfish. What matters in the end are the intentions of the action taken, not the action itself. The pedophilia problem was a real thing that was adressed by the church. It's pretty much gone, now.
And as a straight, ex Christian non bigot, I think it's none of your or my business what other people do so long as it isn't harmful to others.
Why do you think you, as a Christian, get to dictate what the morals of the entire of the world are? (Hint: "cos the Bible" is not a reasonable answer.)
As a straight, ex Lutheran non bigot but definitely chauvinist, I agree it's no ones buisness who you preach for. But is throwing internet tomatoes really going to change anything? Besides a pultry feel good because you downvoted at them?
Let them say their peace. Sure being an asshole isnt nice but bitching about it isnt gonna make them go away, heck some are masochists.
I'm ex-Lutheran, too. I realized that those guys have no clue what they're talking about, contradict themselves constantly, and don't even have consistent beliefs about the main point of their church. They say that you are saved "through faith alone," but can never agree upon what that actually means.
Gay people getting married doesn't invalidate anyone else's marriage
Homosexuality also reduces competition for mates
I believe people should be able to have some sense of sovereignty over their lives
Thinking ill of someone because you believe they'll be punished is a presupposition leading to dogma, the true work of the devil
Is it not so that no one could understand god, see him or hear him? And has his societal implications not changed drastically over the centuries? Shouldn't he who has not sinned cast the first stone? Are people not made in his image?
While that is correct, it is completely unimportant.
That is also completely unimportant.
There's this thing called "free will," and people use it all the time.
"Thinking ill" is an excessively harsh phrase.
That does not prevent God's word from being important. As Revelation says, things have changed and will continue to change for the worse. The context of Bible verses can be quite important; that verse is referring to the death penalty for adultery, and Jesus is saying that none of the people there have done little enough sin to be able to punish a person of meager sin. I don't agree with murdering homosexuals, so the verse does not relate. People are made in God's image, but, unlike God, people are slaves to sin.
I think publicly/vocally criticizing someone is still casting a stone? You know in my mind I always imagine a crowd full of people dropping their rocks and accept whoever it was they were about to stone
I don't think we can extrapolate it to mean that, though. The Bible also says, "Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thy heart, but reprove him openly, lest thou incur sin through him." -Leviticus 19:17. To "rebuke openly" can be public/vocal criticism. Also, I don't think the way you're picturing it's correct, either. It's not them suddenly having sympathy for the woman; rather, it's guilt for their own actions, and how they are close enough to adultery that to kill someone for it would be hypocritical.
The Christian anti gay thing is dumb

Big assumptions there, sweet cheeks.
Gay marriage is harmful to others. It harms the two participants, those who came to the wedding, and the person who oversaw the wedding.

Um no. The only thing that’s harmful are your bigoted opinions.

What's bigoted about them?
It really doesn't. That's...pathetic, even for you.
"Cos the Bible" is not a valid point to people who do not believe in the Bible.
Aren't you claiming to be a constitutionalist? What about separation of church and state?

Arguing that one should be able to marry someone of the same gender also harms others by normalizing sin.

What part of "cos the bible" is irrelevant are you not able to understand?
You don't get to force your belief system on people while simultaneously whining that other religions are trying to force them on you. Hence, bigot.

Since when have I been complaining about that? All religions are allowed to force their beliefs on the other religions.
Haha absolutely agree with Charli. The bible and sin are not relevant or valid points to non believers.
