I shall be blunt for your sake... If you are happy with him, who gives a fcuk about the USA? .. Even if you did, any western European country is better than the US. Anyone that tells you otherwise is bias. Trust me on this. Go, you won't regret it. Specially if you are happy with him. Also, think of your possible kids. Euro education is better than USA education, from experience.
