Well I understand what you mean about relating to someone who is older, but that's a big gap. Personally I think there are definatly ppl closer to your age who you would find stimulating in conversation etc. I don't think a 43 year old is the only age bracket that would provide this kind of interest too you. Your still in high school probably, as your 17, and generally speaking everyone is immature in high school and for probably a few years after that. I'm 19 (male) and I find plenty of people who are wonderful to talk to at different levels. University is a good place to meet more "mature" minds in some cases. As for your parents, if they are anywhere near normal they will have a problem with a 43 year old. I would not settle for this age gap, but if it's what you really want I won't stop you. You should think carefully about going further with this, it will affect how ppl see you whether u like it or not. Personally the image that comes to mind when I think of girls who date ppl this old at your age is a girl craving attention, and a girl who wants something to reinforce their proper up sense of maturity. I'm not saying this is you, but be prepared for ppl to think like that towards you if you go through with this.
