I don't see how AI can be smarter than people. No more than i could be smarter than you, or perhaps I'm not. Human minds create AI. Humans can be smarter than one another is my advocation
The internet?
Use the unlimited supply of all knowledge then the robot while not been smarter than humanity will be smarter than one person, or even a group of people.
They'd also understand everything perfectly so with the knowledge that they can discover anything, they can ultimately become smarter by using what they already know, to learn more.
Technological singularity is near.
