Not the best idea to do it on the sneak. Most women get really pissed when they see you doing it. Not saying I've never done it (most guys have), but you can't make a habit of it. I have a thing for long, polished nails, and have complimented many women I've seen with them. If I want to take a pic, I ask, and most are fine with it. They're flattered and eat up the attention.
That said, though, I haven't done that in quite some time. People are too hair-trigger to call police or security anymore. Nobody can take a compliment, or maybe quick pic, as-is.
