Swearing doesn’t suit me

People always seem so shocked when they hear me swear. I don’t normally swear unless I’m angry or telling a funny story. When my sister and her friends heard me swear (in a playful way), they were shocked and amused. They said that I don’t look like the type of person who swears. What did they mean by that? Do people who swear look different from people who don’t swear? That makes no sense.

At first, I thought it’s because Im usually quiet. But when someone who is also quiet like me swore, they weren’t shock at all. Because of this I sometimes find myself refraining from swearing just because others may find it weird. Is it because of how my voice sounds like (which I talked about a few days ago about hating my voice and stuff) or because I’m a quiet person or how I look?

It was the same way for me back in high school. I was usually quiet and in most of my classes just focused on whatever was being taught.

Excessive swearing is trashy. If you rarely swear it has more impact when you do.

It's because when you come across as being someone with an innocent meek vibe who never swears and then you suddenly do, you're going to then come across as someone who isn't the type who swears who is now appearing out of place by swearing. They're not used to seeing that in you and it will come off as weird to them. To come across as the swearing type to them now, you'd have to not just start swearing more regularly but to also lose some of the innocent vibe. But, you don't have to do that if you don't want to, there's nothing wrong with just staying you.

It's because you don't swear often. Plain and simple. People treated me the same way when I was younger.

There are plenty of factors. You may have an "innocent" vibe going on. Just do you. I started swearing more just to fit in and now I do not talk to those people at all.
