I think there will always be a choice to drive manually, but there will be more safety and comfort features; like biometrics on the steering wheel to make sure you have the fingerprints of an authorized driver, the rear view mirror will do retinal scans to make sure you are capable of driving, and a heads up display that will let you watch your favorite show while in self-drive mode. Self-drive lanes will probably replace HOV lanes and speed limits will be increased for those lanes.
The technology already exists for the things I mentioned. Uber air will be interesting though.
