Surrounded by picky eaters

Is it normal for people to have a bunch of dietary preferences and requirements? Can people just relax and eat whatever is put in front of them?

Surely it's their business unless they're expecting you to cook special food for them? Some people can't just relax and eat everything they want to: if you can, you're one of the lucky ones.

For medical conditions or whatever they want to, yeah it's normal. What's annoying to me is when someone takes a very long time taking pictures of the food or taking pictures in general.

  • I eat what I want and sometimes try to eat foods I shouldn’t but it doesn’t end well for me. Trust me you don’t wanna be giving me milk rn.

I think people should be allowed to taylor their diet for health and fitness goals if that's what you mean. I'm kinda a picky eater to tbh.

i went for real sushi in japan couple years ago in a fancyass place that normally wouldnt serve westerners

place seated only 6 people (there was 2 of us and a japanese local who got us in & translated) and the chefs were father & son

i likes sushi anyhow and mosta what we had was great but there was about 10% of it that just werent appealin or just looked like slimy sea slugs

i dosed it with wasabi & choked it down anyhow so as to not offend our hosts or bring shame on my ancestors

they kept bringin me whiskey so it werent so bad

Some people do have serious problems with various types of food. One of my closest friends has coeliac disease, and even a minute amount of gluten can create very unpleasant symptoms and cause possibly permanent internal damage to his gut. He's also a diabetic, so there's no way he can eat whatever is put in front of him.

However, I'm sure there are a lot of people who latch on to some dietary fad or self-diagnose themselves as having an allergy to any sort of fruit or vegetable with purple skin or some such shit do so in an attempt to be different from the norm. It's attention-seeking behaviour, and just as needy and pathetic as people who cover themselves in tattoos, pierce every possible bit of skin, or slavishly follow this week's fashion trends.

I have acid reflux, and I end up retasting food I've already eaten if you get my drift. If I don't like something I'm not going to eat it just to be polite. If someone has a problem with my eating habits that's too damn bad!
