Sudden ear and tooth pain, iin?

I woke up this morning with a terribile pain in my left ear and a toothache. My left eye has also been unusually red for like a week... It's like the right half of my head is fine while the left half full of pains. May the cause be a lack of sleep?

Is It Normal?

  • That could be because of the tooth, sometimes the pain may extend to the ear. It has been a little past due, Hope there is no infection inside your tooth and wish it has not extended. To not scare you anyway you take an appointment with your family doctor. in this case, You also have to see a dentist. Do not delay.

  • You might have a tooth abscess that's causing other issues. If that's the case, you're only option is a root canal or tooth extraction. You need to go to a dentist and have periapical x-rays taken in the area where the pain is. Also, a Panorex will help rule out a TMJ disorder. Then, you need to go see an ear nose throat (ENT) doctor. Avoid the emergency room if you can, they won't come up with a permanent solution (antibiotics only).

Don't wait any longer. Best of luck.

  • Get to the doctor before the tooth/gum infection becomes a brain infection.

  • This is really weird because today I woke up with the same exact pain. On my left side, too! I realized it was because of a tense muscle in my face (or a "knot" in my facial muscle, or a sore muscle or however you call it) right near my ear probably caused by clenching my jaw at night. I relaxed it today and its better now.

    What about you?

  • I've had those symptoms from a sinus infection, so don't freak out about dental issues before you know what it is. Just go to the doctor.
