I have finally, at the age of 24, decided to investigate my deep obsession with tag rubbing and came across your post. My family and friends know about my habit as well and have always supported it and just acknowledged it was one of my quirky habits, but i have never outgrown it. The one thing that i dont express about tag rubbing is the tongue sucking that comes with it. That part, i dont know if others would understand what i mean. I never sucked my thumb and only briefly used a pacifier as a kid so i assume the tongue sucking stems from never having that fixation as a child, and also never having the been weened off the habit, bc no one knew about it. I am particular about my tags and the specifications are so detailed, its pointless to share. I even sometimes feel a sense of anxiety if i do not have a tag readily available, fortunatly all of my clothes come from Target and the tags on their clothes are up to my standards. Funny enough, i had a best friend all through elementary to highschool and she HATED tags. She cut the tags off every item that had one, so when i would wear her clothes, i would panic, seeking a tag to play with for comfort. She started keeping the tags as she cut them off her clothes for me to keep. Eventually, keeping up with loose tags became a burden so i upgraded to a tag blanket, which i find only a few bring me the comfort that i seek. I am so glad i am not alone and thrilled to share my experience.
Strange addiction to rubbing clothing tags with fingers, is it normal?
