I had this discussion with my friend recently. We don't mind gay people at all, but we just can't help but think that the thought of 2 guys fucking each other is disgusting. ( No offence )

(One thing that the historical evidence makes very clear is that Christians all believed that the Sixth Commandment didn't apply to people who didn't have the same religious beliefs.)

The fact is that modern Christians pick and choose which bits of the Old Testament apply to them. They employ all the usual theological pretzel-logic to justify their position, but it all comes down to them finding something that will legitimise their prejudices - and often their psychological pathologies.
If you believe that the Christian god hates homosexuality, cite a reference in the Gospels where Jesus is quoted as saying that. I'm aware of what Paul wrote, but he never even met Jesus, everything he knew about Jesus and and his teachings was second-hand at best, and his conversion to Christianity was based on what we'd call a hallucination these days. In short, Paul is best seen as a First Century version of the modern American evangelical TV preacher: either a con artist looking to scam the rubes, or a whack-job with serious mental health issues. And who the hell in their right mind believes anything those guys shout and rant?
