I have a theory about this. Women tend to be more empathetic than men. Maybe this allows them to watch porn in a strange... empathetic way. Where not the sight of the woman is arousing, rather what she feels is felt.

I came across a question about who you identify with when watching porn recently. I realized that, even though I'm male and definitely heterosexual, the thing that fascinates me most is what the woman is feeling and experiencing. I don't think I've ever put myself in the man's shoes (or athletic socks).
Attractive women are nice to look at, but I long ago lost interest in the glossy, faked-up female porn-star type, so my preference has been for amateur stuff for a long time.
