This is really normal. you're only human. You can't always control these things..I think that if you ahve tried to be with other girls but you're still always thinking about her (not lustfully tho) then I would suggest you email her, for real. I'm sure it would mean so much to her if you told her how you feel. i think the only thing to worry about is being rejected or her already in love with someone else. Even then, its not the end of the world...if this happened, it means it just wasnt meant to be. But I really think it means something if u cant stop thinking about her..You should tell her. But be warned, long distant relationships dont always work out unless u have a way to always see each other. Tell her before it's too late.I hope my opinion helps.
