Stealing charity collection tins

I was at the mall the other day and there were some people singing Christmas carols with a collection tin for a cancer charity. It was really busy and no one was looking so I just picked up the tin and walked away. There was $44 in it.

Because it was so easy the first time, I did it twice more over the course of 2 days. I made over $100 and no one noticed me or tried to stop me.

Yeah it might be less than $50 but this isn't like when the OP steals from stores, this is something people will frown upon a lot harder.

  Majority of stores don’t have anyone actively monitoring their security cameras so by the time they noticed/reported it I was long gone and the mall isn’t gonna waste time/money tracking down petty theft. Most places won’t even prosecute if it’s less than $50.
