    I don't know why it should matter to you.

    This is common for wealthier families and nice that the person can focus on school instead of needing to also hold a job. In his case it sounds like everything got delayed due to his addiction, but being older wouldn't change his financial situation. I feel weird even answering this though because you should just be proud he is clean and not judgemental. Just love him!!
