That's probably one of the downsides to being a guy- gay men are generally much less accepted in American society than gay women... which is something I don't really understand. Is it because women are typically the more romantic and emotional gender? And men are generally suppose to be "manly", and having feelings for another man isn't "manly"?
That might be the reason. They are completely defying their gender role, and when people defy societal norms, it is like mind-fuck to many of the simple minded folk out there.
