Trust me from first person point of view. You do not want to get shot, it burns so incredibly bad and the pain pulses from the point of entry through its path of damage resulting in pain you would never have though possible...morphine does not stop the throbbing part at all....it just helps you sleep and stops the acute pain, but not the overall pounding...it is unlike any pain you have ever conceived of before.
