    It sounds like you have miscategorized acquaintances as friends. That seems to be a common thing today.

      I don't want to agree with this but then I thought of all of the people who have tried to be my friend vs. all of the people who I have actually decided to spend time with and it confirms what you said.

      I know that I would be able to have these friends as friends if I put the effort into making the conversation but I don't want to because there ARE people out there with whom I can make easy conversation with.

      By effort I mean nitpick. "What did you do in class today? What subject are you taking? How do you feel about that subject? What is your favorite subject? Why?" you can get a person talking about something they love if you ask them enough stupid but necessary questions. I have made some friends because they had interests that I wanted to learn about. So it's up to you. Don't waste your time if you are not willing to put forth the effort. s
