Snacking in front of parents

For about a year now, every time that I want to eat in front of my parents. I get this odd feeling that I shouldn't eat and then proceed to put it away/discard the idea to have a bite. Then as soon as they're gone I feel relief and then I go have a snack.
It only happens whenever I am around my parents; not my friends, classmates, or even in public places.

Please tell me, Is this normal?

  • Are they health nuts? If so, then it's probably normal. I don't like to snack in front of anyone..it's just more relaxing to do that alone.

  • maybe its just because you dont want to hear them say anything about the fact that you are snacking. normal.

    • Yep, that makes total sense. Nobody wants to hear nagging. Not even the annoying people who do the nagging want to hear it. Based on everything I've read my advice to the original poster is to try to go college far away from home so you can leave home. Enjoy the freshman 15 in peace! Also if you ever absolutely must snack and your folks are home make sure you've got headphones on so you can ignore them.

  • Are they obsessive about eating healthy or being thin?
