Sliced my finger open with a can of soda and

It has a flap..you know like it gashed me or something, but didnt fully take the skin off. it's probably 3 or more layers deep, no bone not that deep.

Anyway, how can I heal it quicker and how long does it NORMALLY take to heal up? I have a wedding to attend in 5 days and I really don't want problems when I'm busy setting stuff up because it still kinda hurts and also, I need to wash my hair now with 9 fingers..lol

Any advice?

Is It Normal?

  • There is some stuff you can get at the pharmacy that is like crazy glue but for flesh wounds, I've placed a link at the end which shows you what I'm talking about. Neosporin is not going to heal that gash. Neosporin is for small stuff not as big as what you are describing. Clean it with alcohol or antiseptic wash or betadine ( i think thats how you spell it) not with benzoyl peroxide (benzoyl peroxide will damage the flesh and it will take longer for it to heal. Let it dry and then you can put that glue on the edges of the flap, hold it down shut till it looks like it stuck and put an anti-bacterial CREAM NOT GEL around the edges, let it dryand apply a bandage. You should clean around it everyday with anti-septic wash or betadine and let it dry, then you can apply an anti-bacterial CREAM NOT GEL. Let it dry and then reapply the bandage. Do this everyday your finger should heal in a week or so.
Make sure that your finger stays clean and dry at all times.

I did this to my dogs paw pad, which he sliced open really really bad. It healed in like two weeks.

    Hope your finger gets better.

    • You don't really need to wear a bandage the whole time but the first few days is ideal.

  • ok best bet some antibacterial cream and a bandaid for the first few days. you dotn want air in the cut . as air has organisms in it both good and bad . if you ahve to wear a bandaid you hav eto get a clear one. do nto rip the flap of skin off i f you cna help it .it will take alot longer to heal.

  • Neosporin helps heal cuts Well and quickly. As long as it's not bleeding try not to wear a bandaid. The open air is good for cuts. When you wash your hands dab the cut dry so the scab won't rip off. Hope this helps.
