Sighing/breathing woman

It was about 10pm and I had dim lights on in my room to set a relaxed mood as I finished writing, and I heard a woman sigh, like blowing out air, somewhere behind me, and somehow, I knew it was a young woman, with willow limbs and straight auburn hair, just from the sound, like I could see her. I think she's gentle, but tired and cold. But no one was there, obviously, just me alone. I have heard the sound of a child sniffing a few times too when no one was there. But I'm not schizophrenic or anything, so I don't know the cause

I was doing a 12 hour overnight shift in a taxi office alone once and near the end of the shift, I clearly heard someone say loudly in my right ear "ping!".

I think my brain was fried from staring at a screen all night, maybe it was the same for you with your writing.

    • That's actually hilarious (╭☞´ᴥ`)╭☞ ahaha and it probably was a case of the brain fry. Still, I am tempted to try sleep deprivation/brain frying again to see if I can get any fun hallucinations like yours!

Sleep deprivation is really bad for your mental health and your health in general. Maybe try magic mushrooms instead, you'll have some fun hallucinations and it may help with creativity. Just make sure you don't take them alone your first time, or at least take a very small dose.

        • Do magic mushrooms change your brain afterwards though? Do you feel that God is ok with it?

I can't give you any advice on medical matters but I know there are no physical effects from shrooms. Personally I was extremely depressed for months before I used them and it was a very challenging experience but afterwards it felt like my brain was refreshed and all my anxiety was gone.

During the trip I felt like my brain was on overdrive and I could do an hour's worth of thinking in a second. I thought about the origins of the universe and god and pondered some philosophical questions, including wether I actually existed or not.

I came to some conclusions about life and suddenly felt like I really understood the words of Jesus and I felt the deeper meaning of them. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life and it completely changed the way I think and made me more optimistic and reaffirmed my faith in God.

            • It stinks that you went through all that. I hope you're better now. Jesus really does heal.
I think in comparison to you I'm scared of thinking to deeply, because it can lead to nihilism or change of goals and values, which is scary

Hallucinations resulting from an over active imagination and lack of sleep.

Perhaps a vivid thought/daydream? I've had a couple where I flinched thinking I was about to be attacked for a split second then remember I'm alone. When you think about the past your mind recreates the event to the best of its abilities. Whether you worked out who that voice was, it could likely have been a memory from the past that became a bit too real for a moment.

    • i was writing a document and not daydreaming. It sounds like you have a very good imagination though!

There are many possible causes some of which you can explore. Perhaps look into whether you have any other mental disorders. I did notice you crossed schizophrenia off the list which is good. If you were tired as well that could have played a part in it. I personally am not one for the supernatural but if you are then by all means look into that as well!

        I appreciate the compliment!

I heard breathing once but no one was there. Was very weird and bit scary. I held my breath to make sure wasn’t me and it kept going.

Maybe you have ghosts, maybe you are experiencing the beginning of paranoid schizophrenia?

I think OP just needs to get a good night's sleep and keep his/her imagination under control! I doubt very much if it's either of the things you suggest.

This is also a good possibility. I have had fleeting visual hallucinations when I have been overworked, and or sensory deprived. I once saw a tree in a parking lot that wasn't there after spending many hours in an audio production room working on a music bed with headphones on, and the lights down low. I was in college at the time, and I had the headphones on instead of listening to the audio out of the speakers, because I thought I could hear better, and also because the control room was next door, and I never knew when a bored ass late night disc jockey might come barging through the door to see what's up with me, and I've always been very insecure about my abilities in the realm of audio production.

Were you by any chance overworked, or deprived of sleep at the time?

        • I am back. I was very sleep deprived. I occasionally still feel air being gently blown on my neck though, it's not unpleasant lmao
