Should we have levels and a point system to make is it normal more interesting?

I mean like how Yahoo Questions has levels depending on how many questions you answer or make, should is it normal have levels depending on how many questions you comment on or vote on or make. I think it should :D

It would have to be done in a very sophisticated way to avoid rewarding spam and encouraging cliquishness, which I know are two of the biggest concerns for some people here. I'm not going to say it's definitely a bad idea, but it would have to be done in a very specific way that would need a lot of thought put into it.

No, it would incite to post useless comments just to score more and I think that the site is already full of them.

Absolutely not! Part of the allure of IIN is that it is not like those other sites. It's abnormal compared to the rest.

There are already hierarchies on IIN. We don't need more.

Plus, there kind of already are "levels" on an unseen level.

How would it make IIN more interesting?

I like the idea of something like this. Maybe we could have titles on our profiles like 'good advisor', 'funny', 'most likely to comment back', 'witty'...yeah like those silly high school year book contests that other members could vote on. I've always liked those, despite their superficiality. I just enjoy knowing how others perceive me. If it were optional to participate and the titles were a form of positive reinforcement, I don't see anyone getting to butt hurt, aside from it maybe taking a while for a user to obtain votes. I'm sure there are other complications to it though, like users voting for themselves under different profiles.

When I was in high school my senior prediction was, "Rose stops analyzing and starts living," I'm 44 years old and it still hasn't happened yet!

      :-P

I'd probably be voted "most likely to cause someone to delete their post/profile" :[
