And how many people really go to that much effort to learn outside of school? We'd just end up with either a whole bunch of insufficient workers who have no idea how to do what they're supposed to do, or half the world working at McDonald's. You're absolutely free to teach yourself through the Internet if you feel like that's the best way to get an education, but don't give everyone an excuse not to be educated at all.
Should this replace college degrees if it existed?

The person can be self - taught, learn from the internet, etc. Obviously it's not as easy as it sounds, but let's pretend it really was that easy.
