I know it doesn’t seem like it but the world has never been safer than it is today. With smartphones, cameras everywhere, smarter children, the risk of your kids being attacked are very slim. Think of the 80s and 90s, the murder rate was like 80% higher than it is now. Crime has gone down. When you were a kid you grew up in one of the most dangerous periods of time and just think of how much freedom you had. Your kids will handle the world just fine without pepper spray
I grew up in Houston, Texas, in the 1970s and I don't know why, but when I read your comment I remembered that Houston had a gay serial killer called the Candyman, he lived in Heights.
