That sounds very nice, but one likes to feel obligated. I'm an adult, buy I certainly don't want to be obligated to adopt a child. I can't afford a second Siamese cat or a Sheltie dog so I'm certainly not going to take responsibility for a young human who's not own flesh and blood.
Sorry, can't pretend. I'm more an animal person than a people person.
... but even if I had means I might not necessarily have the inclination to raise a child that isn't mine. People cannot be forced to do something against their will even if it's a so called nice or ideal thing.
If I had the means I'd want more animals and children of my own who carried my own DNA, and that of my partner. I feel what I feel, and no one can force me to feel otherwise.
Should more parents be willing to adopt?

We should feed all of the homeless children to all of the homeless cats of the world.
I said "Adults with the means"
I'm also an adult who cannot afford children, but plenty of people can.
