I think it's ok. As long as you don't risk returning to her. Then you'd get some extra mental comfort in exchange for pretty much nothing other than time, so it's good. That theory with "show that you're different" doesn't really sound impressive to me. In reality, you'd show that to nobody, because nobody cares.
