I'm assuming you're both in the middle of your senior year of high school? So you told her, what, one and a half years ago and she rejected you? And now you're platonic friends. It's not particularly likely that much will change, but like I said, tell her for your own sake.
If I were you, I'd tell her the story of your uncle as a reason you're telling her now. It's quite moving.
