Having a psychological disorder is the same as having a physical problem, like a broken leg. It can be just as physical; a matter of brain chemistry.
There's no shame in getting help for it.
If your leg was broken would you not go to the doctor just because some people have it worse, because some people don't even have legs? I highly doubt it.
If you feel you need help, you should get it. Part of depression is convincing yourself that you don't deserve help or happiness, or that you aren't worthy, or that you're just a complainer...all of that is your disease talking.
